The use of all facilities is reserved for Community Association Members and their families. Guests are to be accompanied by Members while in the Beach area. A Member with family and guests may number no more than 15 without prior approval from the Beach Chairperson as outlined on paragraph 7 below.
Members may grant their overnight Houseguests permission to use the Beach facilities during their stay. Houseguests will be expected to observe all rules and regulations applicable to any Member.
As a courtesy, Members will inform the Beach Chairperson (or Board Member) of the number of guests, names and duration of stay. Members will advise guests of rules for use of the Beach. Members must accept responsibility of guests using the Beach.
All persons using the beach facilities do so at their own risk. Colchester-on-the-Severn Community Association will not be responsible for any accident, injury or loss.
Only cars displaying a Colchester identification sticker may be parked within the beach area. Members who entertain guests who will be utilizing the Beach parking lot should ensure that the guest vehicle is identified (with Colchester parking pass) when left unattended.
Cars, trailers (any size), boats and bicycles must be parked in designated areas.
Members desiring to reserve community facilities for a private party must (A) submit a “Request for Use of Colchester Beach” form to the Community Association’s Beach Chairperson (or a member of the Board of Directors if the Beach Chairperson is available), (B) agree to be present and supervise the party, (C) provide the Community Association one day event insurance (if requested by the Board), and (D) agree to clean up after the party.
NO unleashed animals are permitted on the Beach area. (County law forbids uncontrolled dogs at large.) Only Members may have their leashed pets on the Beach area. Owners must clean up after their pets.
Members are required after picnicking on community property to remove their trash to their home garbage cans. Do not leave in beach receptacles. Beach cans are intended for small item use to avoid litter on the beach. You may use the cans to hold your bags but you must empty them when you leave. Members should assist with moving cans to and from the curb for garbage pickup when possible. ( removed: clean up and put trash into the receptacles provided)
Bonfires and grills may only be used in designated areas.
The discharge of firearms and airguns is prohibited.
Children under the age of eight years are not allowed on the pier beyond the gate unless accompanied by an adult. The pier gate must be closed and latched at all times.
No boat is to be boarded without the owner’s permission.
To ensure swimmer safety, maneuvering and beaching of small craft in swimming area directly in front of the beach must be avoided. Small boats should be beached on the west (cliff) side of the pier or on the east (storm sewer) side of the boat ramp. Sails must be lowered upon landing.
Boats may only be launched by or under the supervision of a Member.
The entrance gate to the beach and the pier will remain locked at all times unless a Colchester Member is physically present on the beach or pier
Members desiring a key may obtain one from the Beach Chairperson.
Diving, jumping and swimming is prohibited under the pier and in the slip areas. Running and “rough-housing” is prohibited at all times.
Boat operators will use extreme caution when under way near the pier. Slow speed must be used to avoid wake damage to other boats and to ensure swimmer safety.
Mooring lines, water hoses and other loose gear must not be left lying on the pier since they constitute tripping hazards.
All requests for use of Beach Storage areas (boats, trailers, dinghies) must be submitted to the Board in writing with annual dues payment. Additional storage requests must be submitted to the Beach Chairperson as needed.
